An apostille is a special stamp that certifies the validity of signatures, status of individuals, and seals and is affixed to Ukrainian documents that will be used abroad in all countries that are parties to the Hague Convention.
The apostille is affixed to:
on documents issued by the judicial authorities of Ukraine;
on documents issued by the prosecutor’s office of Ukraine, justice bodies;
on administrative documents;
*on documents of education and academic titles;
on documents executed by public and private notaries;
on official certificates executed on documents signed by persons in their private capacity, such as official certificates of registration of a document or fact that existed on a certain date, and official and notarial certifications of signatures.
The apostille is affixed directly on a space free from text on the document or on its back or on a separate sheet by an official of the competent authority (in this case, the separate sheet is sewn to the document with a red or white thread and certified with a signature and seal).
Apostille is not affixed to:
original passport documents, military tickets, work books, permits to carry weapons, vehicle registration certificates (technical passports), identity cards;
originals, copies (photocopies) of regulatory legal acts, explanations and legal opinions regarding their application, documents of a correspondence nature.
PLEASE NOTE that the apostille on official Ukrainian documents is affixed exclusively on the territory of Ukraine. Accordingly, you will not be able to obtain a document with an apostille at Ukrainian consulates abroad.
